The Leading Industry Standard For Over 35 Years!
Dave is a rare gem, bringing a trove of globe-spanning life adventures and highly specialized expertise to help clients heal and radically transform their lives.
In his Aquatic Bodywork practice, Dave has a two-month-long waiting list for a reason. Having studied with the industry’s “A-List” including the founder of Watsu, he is one of the few fully trained and qualified practitioners in the country. His perfected approach is as gentle as it is powerful, supporting the body to release blockages and open the flow of life force energy for profound healing.
In his role as life coach, Dave has been inspiring the movers and shakers of the world for over a decade. Incorporating a blend of dynamic exercises, innovative tools and deep self-inquiry, his patented methodology centers on the power of intention-setting and the Mind-Body-Spirit connection. Through this, he empowers clients to free themselves of self-sabotaging obstacles, “be their own solution” and produce transformative, lasting results.
Throughout his adult life, Dave’s journey has taken him around the world, carried by his intrinsic nature to push past boundaries, overcome fears, challenge uncertainty and connect with the elements. To name just a few of his adventures, he has: pursued extreme sports, including high altitude alpine climbing; met with tribal leaders and medicine men in Africa and Asia; drawn inspiration from Buddhist masters on the Tibetan Plateau; playfully interacted with rare mountain gorillas in the African Congo; and extensively traveled throughout the Middle East and South America.
Dave began his career in 1988 with Recreational Equipment, Incorporated (REI), working his way up the corporate ladder to become the youngest vice president in the company’s then history. In his 13 years with REI, he coached over 200 future leaders including at-risk youth, whom he guided on 28-day mountaineering trips through the Pacific Crest Outward Bound School.
By 2001, Dave became aware that he was “stuck” in a daily routine. He felt a certain knowing and calling to explore something different—something that utilized his passion for people and his interest in the world beyond what is seen. Intuitively, he knew it was time to close this chapter and begin a new journey.
Shortly thereafter, Dave left REI and, during a one-year sabbatical, started seeking enlightenment and clarity. He worked with a professional life coach who guided him through a process of inquiry. During that process, he awakened a deep spirituality that inspired him to pursue work that touched people’s lives at a much higher level.
On October 6, 2002, Dave experienced his first aquatic therapy session at the Canyon Ranch Resort in Tucson, Arizona. He would later describe this session as a life-altering, “transformational moment,” where the presence of grace and the divine appeared. Little did he know that the treatment would dramatically alter his life, not to mention the lives of so many others, from that day forward. In fact, if you are reading this, you may have had as profound an experience as he did.
In the months that followed, Dave went forward and studied with Aquatic Bodywork’s “A-List,” including Harold Dull, the creator of Watsu. In San Diego, he became nationally certified by the Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association. Meanwhile, in the life coaching realm, Dave went on to complete his Life Coaching course work in January of 2003. Through the learned practice of setting “intention,” he set the intention that his future clients would be people making a difference on the planet.
Dave’s intention manifested immediately. He was asked to begin working at the world-class Golden Door Spa in Escondido, California, as well as other high-end spas including Rancho La Puerta in Mexico. Since then, he’s worked with some of the world’s most influential people, from successful executives at top companies to the Hollywood elite to politicians and other change-makers. Knowing that with one decision people at this level have the ability to impact millions of lives, Dave focused his practice on these clients and guided their search for answers, purpose and clarity.
In 2010, Dave launched the not-for-profit Wave Academy, a San Diego-based organization that today primarily focuses on treating Post Traumatic Stress-diagnosed veterans, their families and caregivers. Dave’s intention was to reduce the suicide rate of 22 veterans per day. By 2016, the organization had grown to over 1.4 million in donations, and it was time for Dave to help transition new leadership that allowed the organization to grow to higher summits and further expand the mission.
Today, as Wave Academy’s Founder, as well as Chief Alchemy Officer for his private business, Dave focuses on introducing Aquatic Therapy and Life Coaching to like-minded individuals and organizational leaders. As a student, practitioner and leader, Dave creates space for alchemy and grace to guide his work, relationships and experiences.
